Each sea turtle nesting season, Mote's sea turtle patrol team monitors 35 miles of beaches in the Sarasota, FL area to document sea turtle nesting activities and monitor nesting trends. Mote also operates a Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital and Hatchling Hospital, where tiny and large sea turtles alike receive the emergency care they need before releasing them back into their natural habitat.
